Shot blasting motorcycle engine parts?

I don't know anything about shot blasting but I have a couple of rebuilds to do solvents etc only clean so much I would like to know what type of shot to use and any other advise?

The shot blasting you're talking about is actually shot peening. It's used on things like connecting rods to relieve internal stresses and eliminate surface micro fractures.
