Can you cut the filtrete air filter to get the size you need?

Filtrete air filters.
Since they don't have the size that i need can i cut one side of the filter so that it fits?
is it dangerous? it says not to the the cardboard off. does it make a difference?
can i glue the part of the cardboard

Sure, just make the new end as strong as the original. Better yet, for about 20 dollars you can buy an adjustable filter that lasts a lifetime.
