My small sized air filter in the bedroom is emitting a smell similar to a Halloween fog machine. Of course, I've turned it off. My suspicion is that when I was gone traveling and it was off, it started to grow mold inside or perhaps it just trapped
Spray a mild clorox solution into the inlet. The humidity in there is just going to breed more mold/mildew. You can only ventilate in an attempt to stop it. (If you use A/C, this is Impossible, as a lot of cold air and $ will go right out the window.
